The Myth That Almost Broke Me

For the longest time, I believed that loving someone unconditionally meant accepting everything they did. Every boundary I set felt like a betrayal of love. Every "no" felt selfish.

I let people take and take and take — because I thought that's what love looked like.

I was wrong.

Love Without Boundaries Isn't Love — It's Self-Abandonment

Here's the truth nobody wants to hear: unconditional love and unconditional tolerance are not the same thing.

You can love someone with your whole heart and still say no. You can love someone deeply and still walk away. You can hold someone in the highest light and still refuse to let them dim yours.

In fact, that's the most loving thing you can do — for both of you.

What Unconditional Love Actually Looks Like

Unconditional love means: I love you regardless of what you do. It does not mean: I will stay regardless of what you do.

You can love someone from across the room. From across the country. From the other side of a closed door. Love doesn't require proximity. It doesn't require sacrifice. And it absolutely does not require you to shrink.

The Boundary Is the Gift

When I finally started setting boundaries — real ones, not the kind I'd set and then immediately apologize for — something wild happened. My relationships got better. The people who were meant to be in my life stepped up. The ones who weren't... stepped out.

And both of those outcomes were love in action.

A Love Note to You

If you're someone who gives and gives until there's nothing left — this is your reminder: your love is not measured by how much you endure.

You are allowed to love people and still choose yourself. That's not selfish. That's sacred.
