Energy Clearing 101 - How to Cleanse What Isn't Yours

A beginner’s guide to releasing other people’s energy and coming home to your own.

You’re Carrying More Than You Think

Have you ever walked into a room and immediately felt heavy? Or spent time with someone and left feeling completely drained — even though nothing “bad” happened?

That’s not your imagination. That’s energy. And if you’re reading this, you’re probably picking up on other people’s energy more than you realize.

The good news? You can learn to clear it. And it’s simpler than you think.

What Is Energy Clearing?

Energy clearing is the practice of intentionally releasing energy that isn’t yours — emotions, thoughts, stress, even physical sensations that you’ve absorbed from your environment, other people, or past experiences.

Think of it like taking a shower, but for your energy body. You wouldn’t go days without washing your physical body, right? Your energy body needs the same care.

Three Simple Clearing Practices

1. The Shake-Off
Stand up. Shake your hands vigorously for 30 seconds. Then shake your whole body — arms, legs, torso. Imagine everything that isn’t yours flying off like water droplets. It sounds silly. It works.

2. The Golden Light Breath
Close your eyes. Inhale and imagine golden light filling your body from the top of your head down to your toes. Exhale and imagine gray or muddy energy leaving through the soles of your feet. Repeat 5 times.

3. The Water Reset
Run your hands under cold water for one minute. As the water flows, set the intention: “I release everything that is not mine.” Water is one of the most powerful energy cleansers on the planet.

How Often Should You Clear?

If you’re a sensitive or empathic person — daily. At minimum, clear after being in crowded spaces, after difficult conversations, and before bed. Think of it as energetic hygiene.

The more you practice, the faster your system learns to release. Eventually, clearing becomes as natural as breathing.

You Deserve to Feel Like Yourself

Most empathic people have spent so long carrying other people’s energy that they’ve forgotten what their own energy feels like. Energy clearing is the path back to you.

When you’re clear, you think more clearly. You feel more like yourself. You have more energy. You’re more intuitive. Everything just... works better.
