Coming Out of the Spiritual Closet

My story of discovering that the thing "wrong" with me was actually my superpower.

I Was Convinced I Was Too Sensitive

As a kid, field trips would make me cry. Not because anything bad happened — just because everything happened. All at once. Everyone's feelings, the noise, the energy. It was a lot.

I grew up thinking something was wrong with me. Too emotional. Too sensitive. Too much.

By my early twenties, I was waiting tables in New York City and crying in the bathroom between shifts. Not because the job was hard (though it was) — but because I could feel every single person in that restaurant. Their stress, their sadness, their Tuesday-night loneliness. I was absorbing it all and had absolutely no idea that's what was happening.

I just thought I was broken.

The Moment Everything Changed

When I was 22, I met a psychic teacher named Kayhan. He didn't tell me I was "too sensitive." He told me I was wide open — and that what I was experiencing wasn't a flaw. It was a gift I hadn't learned to use yet.

That one conversation changed the entire trajectory of my life.

He taught me that I wasn't absorbing other people's energy because something was wrong with me. I was doing it because I was intuitive — profoundly, naturally intuitive — and nobody had ever taught me how to work with that.

I started learning. Not just about intuition, but about energy, about boundaries that aren't walls, about how to be deeply sensitive and deeply strong at the same time.

I learned how to be a lighthouse instead of a sponge.

From Hiding to Healing

For years, I kept this part of my life separate. I had my "normal" life and my secret spiritual life. I was terrified that if people knew I was psychic — that I talked to energy, worked with intuition, saw things other people didn't see — they would think I was crazy.

Coming out of the spiritual closet was one of the most vulnerable things I've ever done.

But here's what I discovered: the moment I stopped hiding was the moment I started actually helping people.

In 2008, I created NU IT — a method for working with intuition and energy that doesn't require you to be "gifted" or "chosen" or any of that gatekeeping nonsense. Because here's what I know for sure: everyone is intuitive. You don't need permission to access your own inner knowing. You just need practice.

What I Want You to Know

If you've ever been called "too sensitive," "too emotional," or "too much" — I want you to hear this:

You are not too much. You are magic that hasn't been given a framework yet.

The thing that makes you feel like you don't belong in this world? That's not a bug. It's a feature. It's your sensitivity, your intuition, your ability to feel what others can't — and it's exactly what the world needs right now.

Since 2008, NU IT has grown from a tiny studio in Brooklyn to a worldwide community of students, healers, and everyday people who decided to stop shrinking and start trusting what they feel.

I didn't build this because I had it all figured out. I built it because I was the kid crying on the field trip, and I wished someone had told me: You're not broken. You're awake.

Your Invitation

If you feel like you were born into a world you don't belong in, it's because you're here to help create a new world.

That's what we're doing at Nuurvana. Not just healing — becoming. Becoming the version of you that doesn't need to hide, doesn't need permission, and doesn't need to shrink to make other people comfortable.

It is my greatest honor to be co-creating a new world with you.

One love,
Deganit
